The First Openly Gay Indian Artist Pragya Releases ‘Girls You Rule’

“A stunning celebration of queer love…” – Gay Times

In the light of International Womens Day, Pragya has released her new single and video ‘Girls You Rule’. The second single taken from her forthcoming album ‘Queerism’, ‘Girls You Rule’ is a spirited acoustic track that radiates the message of positivity to women of all ages, backgrounds and sexuality.

This catchy and tuneful “girl power” anthem inspires the audience with a message about the power of women, inviting women to understand their strengths and appreciate themselves. The track has been written and composed by Pragya, with the production completed by Pragya and Deejey Lolly together.

Born in Patna and is now based in Mumbai Pragya describes herself as a gender fluid lesbian. Queerism is the first album by an openly queer artist to release from India since the historic decriminalisation of LGBTQIA+ identities in India and is set to release on May 17th – the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Loaded with both English and Hindi songs in a variety of styles including disco, EDM, hip-hop, jazz-soul, Indian fusion, funk and dancehall, Pragya’s 9 track album is set to be significant and stand as a tribute to the rights of India’s LGBTQIA+ community finally being recognised.
